About

I have a background in environmental studies. For the first part of my career, all I wanted to do was work on global climate change. Believe me, if folks had listened to me back in 1998, we wouldn’t be in this pickle now! Oh well. After a BA in Environmental Studies from Brown University and an MPA from UW in Environmental Management, I moved to Budapest, Hungary, to work for a large international environmental organization there. While in Hungary, I married Jerry, my orchid-growing husband of 11 years. We moved back to the states in 1999 to start a family. We took a Bradley(R) class while pregnant and Isaac was born at the Community Birth and Family Center in Montlake, Seattle, in 2000. His birth changed my priorities in life. During his first two years, I became a La Leche League Leader, and then certified as a teacher of The Bradley Method(R).  Rebecca came along in 2005, born in a tub in our living room as the dawn broke over Seattle.

In October, 2009, I passed the exam and became a Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I am now studying to accredit with the International Childbirth  Education Association.

I have led hundreds of La Leche League meetings, visited dozens of women in their homes, and helped hundreds of mothers and babies learn to breastfeed comfortably.  I also grow organic vegetables, make jams and jellies, and knit and crochet in all of my abundant spare time.
